National Try Hockey for Free Day!

The Howard Huskies are proud to once again host Try Hockey for Free! Please join us on March 7th at 4:30pm at the Columbia Ice Rink.

This is a great opportunity for children age 4 through 9 to try hockey in a FUN, safe environment with trained coaching staff.

No experience necessary and equipment will be provided! There will be plenty of assistance on hand to be sure your child has the best first hockey experience and answer any questions you might have.

CBHL releases try-out dates for the 2026-2027 season

The earliest that teams are allowed to hold tryouts for the 2026-2027 regular season will be:

10U and 12U: March 21
14U thru 18U: April 18

Exact schedule will follow as we approach the tryouts.
 

2025 Huskies Holiday Skate

We are excited to invite you to our Holiday Skate Night on Tuesday, December 23rd, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM! It’s a perfect way to celebrate the season with family and friends while supporting our organization. This event is open to all Huskies families, relatives and friends!

Here’s what’s in store:
 

  • Raffles and fundraisers to support our Huskies community.
  • A dessert truck serving sweet holiday treats.
  • A trading card vendor selling those last minute collectable gifts 
  • Skating for all ages! (Skates will be available for family use.)
  • New and Limited Huskies merchandise for sale
  • Skate rental included in ticket price

To bypass the ticket line, please consider pre-ordering your tickets using the Zelle QR Code below. Please include your name, along with the number of adult and child tickets you are purchasing in the note field. 

$8 per child (18 years and younger)
$10 per adult (over 18 years old)

Power Play for Wishes 2025!

Happy Thanksgiving Huskies!

As the Holiday Season begins, the Club  is thrilled to announce that we will be kicking off our Second Annual Make-A-Wish fundraising drive, running from this Friday, 11/28, through the end of the year, 12/31.

This year, our efforts will support kids like Dylann, a 6 year old kidney transplant recipient and aspiring hockey player from Keedysville, MD, who wished for an indoor hockey rink!!

From our partners at Make-A-Wish:
When it came time for six-year-old Dylann to decide on her wish, there was only one thing that came to mind- hockey! Dylann has spent her whole life watching hockey with her family, specifically the Washington Capitals, and enjoys shooting pucks with her dad and older brother in the driveway. Since receiving a kidney transplant, Dylann hasn’t been able to participate in any hockey-related activities outside the house, so Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic brought hockey to Dylann’s home. We are thrilled for Dylann and her family, and can’t wait to continue following her journey from the sidelines!

The Team that raises the most money will be eligible for a celebratory dinner at the Greene Turtle in Burtonsville, at a time and date of their choice!

As we sit around our tables during Thanksgiving (or rinkside this weekend!), celebrating our holidays with family and friends through the remainder of the year, let’s think about Dylann and other children awaiting their wishes - and put the full energy of our Club behind this endeavor!!

October Saves!

October Saves calls on goalies — youth, amateur, and professional— anywhere and everywhere to raise money and awareness through gathering donations for saves they make during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The charity supports cancer research and patient care services with amazing beneficiaries including The Inova Schar Cancer Institute, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and so many more!

The Huskies are beyond proud to have three of our goalies participating in this great cause!

Lady Huskies Night at the Maryland Black Bears

New option for player developement!

Due to popular demand, the Huskies are excited to announce that we are opening up our Skills Nights to players who would like to further develop their hockey skills this season. 

These skills sessions are already included for players registered for the season on a Huskies Travel or REC team. 

This option to  register for Skill Sessions only, is for players who are not on one of our teams but are looking for some on-ice skill development.

The skills sessions run throughout the season are held weekly at the Columbia Ice Rink.

Fridays, 6:40 – 7:40 PM: Mites
Mondays, 7:30 – 8:30 PM: Squirts & Peewees
Mondays, 8:40 – 9:40 PM: Bantams & Midgets

The cost of participation in skills sessions for the entire season is $500.
