CHOWDER CUP 2024 TOURNAMENT TEAM INFORMATION

    To All,

We are partnering with the Gary Pouliot and the Ashburn Extreme organization on taking teams up to the Chowder Cup Tournaments in Boston during the month of July.  The team name this year is Virginia All Stars.   The team will be comprised of AA level players that participate in the NVSHL, and travel players in the Ashburn area and the Howard Huskies.

The Chowder Cup is a hockey tournament that is held every year in the Foxborough, Massachusetts area.  The tournament typically  draws a large number of teams from around the United States and Canada.  It’s a tournament for travel players only or very highly skilled high school players.  My plan is to comprise a team or teams for the five divisions listed below. If I have enough players to enter two (2) teams in a division, I will do so.  Gary will Coach all the teams with his son Shayne, who resides in the Massachusetts area.

Birth Year 06-07 Senior Chowder Cup  July 18-21  (3 game guarantee)

Birth Year 08  Junior Chowder Cup  July 25-28  (3 game guarantee)

Birth Year 09  Junior Chowder Cup  July 25-28  (3 game guarantee)

Birth Year 10  Mini Chowder Cup  July 12-14  (4 game guarantee)

Birth Year 11  Mini Chowder Cup  July 12-14 (4 game guarantee)

For those of you who don’t know Gary, he is the Executive Director of the NVSHL, and has been the Executive Director of the Ashburn Xtreme for the past 20 years.  His goal is to offer a competitive hockey tournament to local hockey players before they depart for college or give players who are still attending school a head start before their travel season begins.  He is hoping to fill a void for local hockey players that want to do a competitive hockey tournament during the summer, and he has reached out to only the Howard Huskies in Maryland to partner.  New England is a beautiful family vacation destination during the summer, and hopefully this hockey tournament would enhance your stay.

The team will be selected as follows:

    1. You must have been rostered with the Huskies for the 2023-2024 season and be currently registered for travel tryouts for the 2024-2025 season.  Email us to let me know you wish to participate and provide the following:  Name, Birth Year, Position, Team you Played for Last Season.
    2.  The email is to be sent to Bud Buonato howardhuskieshockey@gmail.com
    3.  Please make sure you are free the weekend of the tournament and have no other hockey or family commitments during that time frame.
    4.  We cannot save any roster spots, it will be first come first serve.
    5. The tournament requires that you stay in a hotel in the local area.  We will be assigned a Team Hotel after I register the team(s).

To Secure your spot on the roster you must do the following:

Within 10 days of acceptance on the team, you must make full payment.

    What does the $450 cover:

    1. A roster spot on the team.
    2. A Virginia All Star Jersey and socks.
    3. We will have at least one practice before the tournament.

    About The HUSKIES

The Howard County Youth Hockey Club (HCYHC), also known as the Howard Huskies, is a not for profit hockey club started in 1971. At that time, there were 45 players.   In the 2023 - 2024 season, we will have well over 400 boys and girls playing.

The Huskies provide both recreational (CCHL) and tier-II travel (CBHL & EJEPL) hockey ensuring there is a team for every player’s skill and commitment.

We also host the largest SILVER STICK tournament in the United States every Thanksgiving weekend with over 100 teams.

Our Club’s emphasis is on sportsmanship, teamwork, and character; three themes you will hear woven throughout your experience.
